ETC puts their installers through a rigorous Emergency Fire Sprinkler Water Leak Shut-off Training course. ETC is one of very few organizations (if not the only one) with such a training course in the United States.

Todd Jacobson, of Essrig Taylor Construction, Inc., shows off the "Certified Installer" insignia on his T-shirt at a training session.

Berkeley Earthquake Lab Puts
Safe-T-Proof Fastening System to Test

The furnished house shown at right is located inside the Earthquake Lab at UC Berkeley and was built for NBC's "Dateline" TV show. The show demostrates how a structure built using today's building codes can withstand an 8.0 magnitude earthquake.

Inside, it shows how furniture and equipment fastened using the Safe-T-Proof Fastening System holds up in an 8.0 quake. The photos below show furniture after the 8.0. Everything we fastened held. Other pictures show what happened after we disengaged the furniture from the Safe-T-Proof Fastening System and another simulated 8.0 quake was generated.

This "Dateline" special featuring the lab test on our fastening system aired on Sunday,  May 21, 2006 @ 7pm PST.

The photos below are from the day of the video documented test, including before and after photos

Fastening for both shelves disengaged resulting in both falling onto the chair and desk area, with the monitor coming off the shelf
